Dingley’s Promise in Southampton
Introducing our Southampton Centre
Dingley’s Promise Early Years centre in Southampton provides a nurturing, engaging environment that offers a range of positive learning opportunities for all SEND children. Our committed and passionate team of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) professionals and volunteers has created a space where everybody is welcomed.
We empower all our children to explore and learn through new experiences to develop and unlock their full potential. Each child is encouraged to express themselves and learn through their own interests.
Our dedicated team works closely with the child, their parents, and other professionals to set targets and ensure a holistic approach is followed. During the child’s session, the team ensures they are working on their individual targets to further enhance their development and play opportunities.
We have two bright playroom that can be either open as one large room or divided into two, depending on the needs, levels, and number of children we have in each session. The centre also benefits from having a calm, relaxing sensory area that provides children with a safe space to self-regulate their feelings and emotions. Our playroom is full of resources for children to explore and enjoy.
We have a lovely garden area, offering children a tarmac area and a grass plot for them to learn about the environment, nature, growth and change. Our garden is a favourite spot for children to engage in free play, while also, offering natural play resources. The garden area is used as an outdoor classroom, ensuring learning opportunities are available across the whole Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Our Southampton Centre Provides
- Access to speech and language, physiotherapists and occupational therapies. We do not offer these directly but host these professions and continue with their strategies on a regular basis.
- A family support worker, who is key to maintaining contact and supporting both in the centres and with outreach support.
- Stay-and-play sessions, family coffee mornings and holiday play schemes.
- Fun and diverse learning activities which engage and inspire our children.
Meet our Southampton team!
Centre Manager : Manjort Kaur
Manjort has 18 years of experience working in childcare, starting off as a volunteer worker in a local Sure Start centre where she gained lots of knowledge and hands on experience. After developing a passion for the early years sector, she went on to complete her early years qualifications, and worked at a local Sure Start centre for 15 years, supporting children and families. After graduating with a degree in early years care and education, she then found a management role where she led a team and supported families in the local community. Working in the early years for many years, Manjort developed a vision for a different kind of childcare environment and found Dingley’s Promise, where she will be able to continue to put all those years of knowledge, experience, understanding and passion into practice by supporting children and families to meet their full potential.
Deputy Manager : Iqra Javed
Iqra has been working in childcare for 5 years. She holds a level 3 qualification in childcare and a level 2 qualification in SEND. She is multilingual and can speak 4 languages, and has experience working with children with SEND. She believes every child deserves the best start in life and enjoys working closely with families of diverse backgrounds.
Family Support Worker : Kelly Attridge
Kelly has recently joined Dingley’s Promise, taking on the role of Family Support Worker in Southampton. Kelly comes from an inclusive early years background, with over 7 years experience as a 1:1 practitioner. As the parent of a child with SEND, she has a real passion for early intervention. Kelly is looking forward to getting to know the Dingley’s Promise families and supporting them to the best of her abilities.
Early Years SEND Support Southampton
At Dingley’s Promise Southampton, we support children in the early years with SEND to achieve their full potential.
Through our specialised practices, we aim to:
- Develop greater inclusion and enable more children to access mainstream settings.
- Help families access the appropriate support services for their child’s needs.
- Ensure every child transitions into the best educational setting for them.
- Seek excellence in our specialist early years intervention.
Understanding the needs of our early years children has never been more important. From perfecting motor skills to deepening emotional engagement, every child must be supported in reaching their full potential. That’s why we’ve tailored SEND support services to fulfil the specific needs of our early years children.
We value the importance of understanding areas of difficulty as well as creating targeted interventions and activities to overcome them. With this approach, we ensure that our youngest learners are equipped with the necessary tools to reach their highest potential.
