Chair of Trustees: Russ Fowler
Trustee since December 2020.
Russ was brought up in South London. He spent the first half of his career working in Sales and Marketing roles for Mars, Procter & Gamble, and PepsiCo, initially in the UK and then in Switzerland. He then established a Commercial Consultancy, helping the sort of businesses he used to work for, and ran and grew this for almost two decades, before selling it to new owners in 2019. Russ has been married for nearly thirty years and has two daughters in their twenties. In his spare time, he is a big rugby fan and a keen sailor.
Treasurer: James Laidlaw
James qualified as a Chartered Account with Ernst & Young in 1992 before moving into the banking industry, initially with Coutts & Co, before joining the finance division of Deutsche Bank where he worked for nearly 25 years until retiring in 2020. He has worked in various finance leadership roles, gaining extensive experience of financial governance and regulation, internal and external audit, strategic planning and performance management. James was brought up in St. Albans but has lived with his partner in South West London for the past 30 years. He enjoys golf, cycling, reading and walking his Greek rescue dog in his spare time.
Business Innovation Trustee: Masako Eguchi-Bacon
Masako has specialised in cross-border business establishment between Japan and the US, Asia and Europe. Since she started her own consultancy firm in 2010, she has focused on creating innovation and new opportunities by establishing an ecosystem including government, industry, and academia. She has various positions with Japanese government organisations and start-up accelerators and has a strong belief that connecting people opens a door to exciting innovation. Masako used to belong to a women’s rugby team and now is a keen runner. Her husband, two teenage children and a cat are great supporters of Masako.
EDI Trustee: Marwa Farouq
Marwa Farouq is a Leadership Coach & Strategic Advisor on transformation, org culture and DE&I with RedKite coaching and consulting. Marwa’s most recent role was an executive leader with Teach For All, where she led multiple teams as the Global Head of Operations. In this role, Marwa has championed innovative approaches to work as a strategic executor, leveraging a hands on leadership style derived from her deep expertise in coaching and consulting. Her 20 year career has centred around driving significant and lasting cultural transformations that exemplify her steadfast commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. As the founder of RedKite, currently Marwa partners with leaders and organisations to enable them to create meaningful shifts in a holistic, collaborative and inclusive way that enables organisations, teams and leaders to thrive in these uncertain times.
Safeguarding Trustee: Liz Roles
Liz has been a trustee for Dingley’s Promise for over 2 years. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Social Work, Liz supports our centres with Safeguarding training and ensures that they are confident in supporting any safeguarding concerns or issues. Liz is a music enthusiast and enjoys seeing live bands.
Digital Trustee: Andrew Logie
Andrew Logie is an accomplished IT Director with a wealth of experience in the technology sector. He has worked in research environments, business travel, consultancy and now the charity sector. He is passionate about leveraging technology to create positive social impact. He has lived in Reading with his wife for the past 20 years. Andrew’s principle interests include running, sailing, and walking his Scottish Terriers.
Trustee: Helen Williams
Helen spent the first part of her career as a Chartered Accountant with PwC, where she developed experience in people and operational leadership and management. Since moving to Reading 18 years ago, Helen has worked as a project manager at the University of Reading and is currently the Director of the Planning and Strategy Office. Helen has held voluntary roles in schools and youth sport. She is passionate about the potential for education to transform lives for all and is committed to supporting widening access to education at all levels. Helen has three children and enjoys travelling whenever she can.
Trustee: Cheryl Warren
Cheryl is an award winning trainer and consultant and is clear on her mission, to provide early years spaces that enable our neurodivergent children to thrive, not just survive. This year Cheryl celebrates 30 years within the early years and childcare sector. On completion of the NNEB, Cheryl’s career has seen her roles as a nanny, family support, LA advisor, SENCO, trainer, assessor, lecturer and quality inspector. Cheryl is now an early years consultant and trainer with her own company, Aperion Training, with a passion and specialism for neurodiversity in early years, supporting early years settings and schools to become autism environment champions. Cheryl regularly speaks at events and conferences nationwide and is currently writing her first book on this important subject area. Cheryl works with nurseries across the country, delivering training for teams as well as visits to the settings offering her autism environmental audits, along with support to embed her recommendations. She also provides in person guided support on quality neuroinclusive practice, SEND policy review and SENCo support for several nursery chains.
Trustee: Emma Kemp
Emma’s career in the early years sector started as a nursery cook over 20 years ago, moving on to manage her own Outstanding childminding business having gained her level 3 qualification. Emma built on her people management experience in the banking industry before returning to childcare and managing a small community pre-school in Reading, allowing her to balance the family commitments of raising her three children, whilst working. During this period, she obtained her BA Hons and Early Years Professional Status at Reading University. Emma joined the employee owned, Childbase Partnerships as a Quality and Training advisor in 2015, moving into operations as an Area Manager two years later. Emma brings with her a wealth of both personal and professional experience of SEND and inclusion in the early years alongside extensive knowledge of early years best practice, people development, and nursery operations.
Trustee: Sarah Clarke
Sarah became involved in SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) through her own family’s experience. In 2015 Sarah joined her local Parent Carer Forum, SEND Voices Wokingham and is currently the Joint CEO. She is passionate about ensuring that the ‘lived experience’ and coproduction with families is at the heart of planning and commissioning of services for SEND children and young people. Sarah also works regionally with PCFs in the South East and is currently Co Chair of the NNPCF (National Network of Parent Carer Forums) where she works strategically with various partners including the Department of Education and NHS England.
